众智科学与工程是一门研究互联互通环境下信息物理社会三元融合系统的原理、规律、方法、技术及相关工程应用的学科。它是依托于系统论、信息论、控制论、计算机科学与工程、管理学、经济学、社会学、心理学等多学科，形成的一门新型交叉学科方向。通过万物互联、大数据、云计算、人工智能等新技术和手段获取和分析信息物理社会三元融合系统的众行为数据，研究新型社会模式下社会群体智能活动的基本原理和规律。进而探索如何充分发挥人类个体和群体的智力，挖掘其潜能，分布式地解决计算机或人类单独难以完成的复杂问题的工程方法和技术工具，并与相关领域所面临的具体问题相结合，形成众智科学与工程丰富多样的研究方向和内容。
