「台灣疝氣醫學會」的籌組，主要來自參與發起的多位熱心同好，因有感於國際疝氣學界新知識、新理念的衝擊，並且認為過去對年輕醫師在疝氣教學與訓練並未有系統的推動也並無整合性的共同討論或研究平台，對外無法與國際接軌，另方面深覺醫學界與社會民眾間，必要有更多的互動，以「台灣疝氣醫學會」為名，基本上就在回應上述需求。 秉此信念，隨即與國內多位熱心而又有足夠時間的疝氣同好經商議多次，斗膽籌組成立「台灣疝氣醫學會」，並已獲內政部正式同意成立，期能對國內疝氣醫學的臨床及教學略盡棉薄之力，讓長年為疝氣病患服務的同業，能共聚一堂，相互交流新知或心得。
