Gender democracy is one of the basic principles of Heinrich Boell Foundation. The concept postulates equal rights, opportunities and access to resourses for all members of society. Development of events in the region demonstrates that human rights, especially minority rights, are not guaranteed in the countries. Accordingly, HBF actively supports projects which promote gender democracy.

Das Gunda-Werner-Institut für Feminismus und Geschlechterdemokratie ist in der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung ein noch sehr junges Institut. Es ist 2007 aus den vormals getrennten Einheiten - dem Feministischen Institut und der Stabsstelle Gemeinschaftsaufgabe Geschlechterdemokratie - hervorgegangen. Wir haben uns zusammengeschlossen, um unsere Kräfte zu bündeln, neue Synergien zu erzielen und gemeinsam neue politische Perspektiven zu entwickeln.
