Schoolkids Has Purchased CD Alley, Will Change Names March 1 Posted by David Klein @DKleinandFall on Fri, Feb 12, 2016 at 5:08 PM Come March 1, CD Alley—the cozy, narrow Chapel Hill record shop that Ryan Richardson has owned and operated since 2006—will not be CD Alley. Schoolkids Records , which left Chapel Hill in 2008, will make its return to the college town at CD Alley’s West Franklin Street location. This will be the third Schoolkids. Several factors compelled Richardson’s decision. For one, the store’s ten-year term is coming to an end shortly, and he figured “ten years felt like the right amount of time.” The agreement with Judge arrived just in time. With Richardson starting accounting school in May, the store would have closed for good in the next few months, anyway. Salvaging CD Alley’s legacy—and bringing Schoolkids back to Chapel Hill—were important to Schoolkids owner Stephen Judge. “There’s a lot of history there,” he says. “I grew up in Rocky Mount. When I came up for Carolina football games with my friends, we would always stop by Schoolkids. It was just part of the ritual.” Eight years ago, as general manager at Redeye Distribution in Haw River, Judge fought strenuously to keep Schoolkids from leaving Chapel Hill, whether by himself or with the help of his employers at Yep Roc and Redeye. In the end, he felt it was too risky to take on by himself. When Richardson discussed wanting to sell CD Alley, he was determined to make it work this time. “It’s always something that stuck in my side,” he says. "This is me setting things right." The transition will be smooth and devoid of hoopla, says Judge, whose other Schoolkids locations are in Raleigh and Durham. There won’t even be any new signage. Initially, the only significant change that shoppers can expect will be less frequent sightings of Richardson at the front desk. But the store’s other staff will remain on board. Richardson came to the store as an employee in 2000 and bought it six years later. He never planned to do it forever. “I’ve known all along that I couldn’t do this for the rest of my career,” he says. “I was going to have to change tracks at some point. I felt like, if I was gonna go back to school, I’d better do I before I let too much more time get away from me.” While he says he still enjoys his work, Richardson admits it takes more and more to keep up. “If there was one thing I don’t enjoy about it as much anymore, it’s just trying to stay ahead of the curve. But all in all, it’s still a lot of fun,” he says. “If you could have told me I’d own a shop on Franklin Street for ten years, I’d say that sounds like a dream come true.”

There is probably no single race more famous than The Benihana Offshore Grand Prix. This race was known as the Indy 500 of Offshore Racing and was held in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, during the 1970's. The New Jersey Offshore Powerboat Racing Association has been the host club since racing started in Point Pleasant Beach some 40+ years ago. NJ Offshore (NJOPRA) is still a very active club with over 100 members and has kept the tradition of Offshore Racing alive on the Jersey Shore for all those years. Over the years, the name of the Point Pleasant Beach race has been changed each time a new sponsor was obtained. It's been called: The Hennessey Offshore Grand Prix, The Benihana Offshore Grand Prix, The Ray Catena Offshore Grand Prix, The New Jersey Offshore Grand Prix, The War at the Shore, the Jenkinson's Offshore Grand Prix and the year of 2005 it was called The Jersey Boyz Offshore Grand Prix. During the years, the race course has gotten smaller and shorter. In the Benihana days, the race was over 200 miles long running laps from NY's Fire Island to Seaside Heights NJ. One lap was about 80 miles. For the spectators, and there were many, the boats came by once an hour and only three or four times depending upon the race course configurations. Today the racecourse is a small 4 mile oval as close to the beach as possible. Since the beach drops off quickly, the boats usually run within 150 feet of the surf. Even the outside leg can be clearly seen from the shoreline. The NJ race has also seen its share of sanction flags. Originally, the race was the premier APBA National Offshore Race. This race ran on the third Wednesday of the month of July like clockwork. People would book their vacations around race week, as it was always a source of excitement. Back in 1975 a fast boat in NJ was a 21' Searay with a 188 Merc I/O. So when the big boats came to town, it was quite a show. Ed Smitty Smith has taken over the reigns at OPA and together with Augie The Godfather Pensa, President of the Jersey Boyz Offshore Racing Crews, NJOPRA and the Twisted Sisters, they will bring back the days of the old Benihana. The cavity seemed small and insignificant at first, but it soon spread throughout the tooth. My child suffered tremendous pain. I finally sought a dentist's help. The dentist cleaned and filled the tooth so that my little one didn't lose it. The dentist also explained how my child developed a cavity and offered tips to prevent it from happening again in the future. I decided to offer other parents tips with my blog. Over eighty years ago, William and Rose Fulton traveled to Dragoon, Arizona, to build their new home. Having stayed at the Triangle T Guest Ranch in Texas Canyon, William Fulton fell in love with the area and bought up 1600 acres. The Connecticut couple had both turned 50; the kids were grown and they were looking for a second home in the sunny west. They set about building much more than that. Mrs. Fulton loved the American Quarter Horse and put their new FF Ranch to work raising the breed. Mr. Fulton loved the history, arts and cultures of Native American people. Seventy-years ago he created a nonprofit organization that he called the Amerind Foundation. The Fultons built a spacious museum in Texas Canyon, and there they assembled a beautiful collection of Native arts and crafts created by people from North, Central, and South America. Mr. Fulton pursued and funded archaeological research expeditions that shed light on the ancient peoples of Cochise County and northern Mexico. The Fultons passed on in the 1960s, but their legacy survives. The Amerind continues to display the fine arts and fine crafts of Native American people. The Fultons’ lovely museum brings 10,000 visitors a year to Dragoon and 800 school children from around Cochise County. The Amerind continues to support new research into the history of ancient people in North America and around the world.

This blog is about our 5 year old little boy Seth and his battle with Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID). At the point of beginning this blog he is being considered for a second bone marrow transplant in order to save his life. My aim is to provide a real account of his history and progress through diary entries, pictures and videos showing that the boy makes the most of his bubble!.
