BELL TARGET SHOOTING is one of the oldest club and pub sports in the country. There are still a number of Air Rifle and Airgun Target Shooting Clubs in the UK. By 1905 there were around 1600 Bell Target teams in Birmingham alone. It all started in the 1890’s by the Victorians to improve shooting standards among recruits during and after the Boer war. Shot at 6 or 7 Yards, with .177 Air Rifles. It was also encouraged by the likes of Lord Roberts of Kandahar and Baden Powell. Who incorporated Air Rifle shooting in to the scouts as one of the first merit badges in 1910.
