Our mission is to create an environment that reduces barriers, leverages resources, enables teams, and serves as a model for collaborative consortia.

The Electronic Scholarly Publishing Project produces tools to facilitate online scholarly communication, and the ESP staff produces content related to several collections including classical genetics, evolutionary biology, the philosophy of science, biomedical informatics, and American literature. The ultimate goal of the ESP project is to provide an environment for electronic scholarly publications, so that others may also undertake projects at this site. The technical infrastructure for the site allows extensions to be made straightforwardly, so that adding new topic projects requires little more work than that necessary to produce and describe the documents themselves.

DataMed is a prototype biomedical data search engine. Its goal is to discover data sets across data repositories or data aggregators. In the future it will allow searching outside these boundaries. DataMed supports the NIH-endorsed FAIR principles of Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Reusability of datasets with current functionality assisting in finding datasets and providing access information about them.

Dr. David Gutman is an assistant professor of Biomedical Informatics at Emory University focused on understanding genomic bases of biological imaging.
