It started in May of 2000 when we went on a vacation to Cairns Australia and I had a cheapo Kodak disposable camera...the images were horrible (duh!). From that moment on, I was determined to photograph the color of life as best as I could. Thank you for visiting my website! My love for photography began as a child. I remember going to the National Museum of the Air Force when I was 9 or 10 years old. I spent every penny I had buying and shooting all the rolls of 110 film I could get my hands on. It took me weeks to save up enough to get them all developed (aahhh digital). I found the pictures again a few years ago. The pictures were nothing spectacular, but I'll never forget the rush I got taking them. Jump ahead to high school where I took my first photography class and learned about exposure, composure, and developing. After that I got away from serious photography until just a few years back. My father got a fancy new camera, a Nikon D90, and I had to have one too. I tried out a lot of lower grade equipment before learning the reasons why the pro grade stuff cost soooo much. There really is a huge difference in what you can do with it. But then I hit another wall. Even though my gear was good, I couldn't get all the shots I was trying for. My dad was having similar issues and we discovered a local photography school, Light Photographic Workshops. And the rest, as they say, is history. Not really, but I did learn how to fully use my camera and have continued to strive to be a better photographer ever since. I am fortunate to live in an area filled with great places to shoot, and to have friends and family that are so supportive of my work.

Street Photography is about how you capture what’s around you, how confident you are as a person, how you handle peoples reactions when or after you take their photo. I know it seems scary but just go for it, but not everybody feels confident in public with a camera and taking pictures of people, you need basic knowledge, it’s like laying a foundation before we build a house, it's what makes it strong. Street Photography is not everyone's cup of tea, best to do it for yourself, fill your curiosity. You don’t have to be a serious Street Photographer, as long this genre makes you get up and get out, that’s great. I believe we only gain something from focussing on what we do and keep on trying. I never stop learning when doing Street, everything about it fascinates me, from the people, shadows, shapes, to en empty road. Since I started Street photography, I never get bored. I do Street everywhere, weekends, during holidays, days out with friends, in good weather or bad weather, in broad daylight or at night. The Street is available to everyone who’s willing to do it, 24/7. I started my workshops early in 2017, it’s my great pleasure to introduce Street Photography to others and keep motivating them afterwards. I am always pleased to discover that many of my workshop attendees actually have the skills and understanding but need advice and demonstrations to begin with. I regularly see my workshop attendees doing well after workshops, they start “seeing things” which is the hardest part in Street photography. They gain the confidence to go out and the most important thing is they enjoy it, they feel that Street Photography gives them something to look forward, to go outside and practice. I think that’s wonderful. During the workshops I demonstrate my skills by showing some of my images that I have taken over many years, I point out good subjects that I spot on the Street and give them the explanation and of course I make sure my attendees doing a lot of practising to gain their confidence. My advice to beginners is: Go out, make lots of mistakes and importantly, enjoy it!

I fell in love with photography at age 15 when I got my first SLR camera for Christmas back in 1983. I wanted to be a National Geographic photographer but photography school was too expensive so I never pursued it professionally. In my 20's, I didn't have time to do much photography due to... well, life. At around age 32 I decided I wanted to be happy, finally, and I wanted to take control of my life instead of being controlled by my job. So I started getting back into my photography and practicing and shooting and reading everything I could get my hands on and teaching myself how to be a better photographer. So at age 34 I started my photography business. This was in 2002 about 6 months after 9/11. Probably not the best time to start a business, but for me it was now or never. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life! I put everything I had into it with the attitude that "I will make this happen!" Failure was not an option. To my surprise... three years later, I was shooting 50 weddings a year. The best part... I am happy! I love what I do, I love my life... What could be better than that? About My Photography I don't like to label my style of photography. I just go with what I am feeling from the bride and groom and what I am feeling from the wedding location. The light, the colors, the textures all play a part in how I shoot. I bring a relaxed, fun and confident attitude to my shoots. I get told by my clients that I am a joy to work with and I make them feel very comfortable in front of the camera. I get people at my weddings telling me, "Dude, your an awesome photographer!" I am a lover of living intentionally, experiential learning, and global thinking. An academic interdisciplinarian, I have degrees in Human Biology, Social Work, Ethics, Spanish Language, and recently a Master Degree in Global Public Health. I earned my chops in photography as a photojournalist, and in post processing as a photo-editor, in 2011 when I worked for a local daily newspaper for 1 year. Since then I have continued local freelance work, but have primarily focused on my true passion – travel photography. Forever hungry for novel experiences, and permanently thirsty for caffeine, I inevitably fall in love with every place I visit. It is my ongoing goal to belay all preconceived notions and enter every new place and community only wanting to learn and understand something new. I am an Atlanta based photographer specializing in fine art landscape, architectural and artwork photography. Working in both black & white and color, my landscape images are an expression of my lifelong love for the wonders of our natural world. My current black and white work is an exploration of the monochromatic world of patterns, shapes, tones and textures in natural settings. As I continue to explore this world I find myself moving away from the traditional wide "landscape" views to more intimate compositions with a particular emphasis on the structure of the subject and the composition. My color work - as opposed to focusing on form and texture as I do in my black and white portfolio - uses color itself as the essence of the image. The colors being as, or sometimes more, important than the actual subject matter of the photograph "Abstract Water Studies" is a new project in both color and black and white that explores the movement, texture and color of water separated from the normal context. Although I use modern digital equipment to capture and process my images I am, at the core, a traditionalist and use the "digital darkroom" to perform only traditional darkroom techniques such as dodging and burning, tonal adjustments and contrast control to create the image as I visualized it in the field. I have been fascinated by unconventional people for as long as I can remember. I was raised in a middle class suburban neighborhood where my family stood out as eccentrics. We were the only secular family on the block, and my parents encouraged us to run wild, play hard, and reject authority. My father told captivating stories about his unusual upbringing, many of which revolved around his mother, a paranoid schizophrenic, and his father, a merchant marine with severe PTSD. As I got older, I became curious about other people that lived unorthodox lifestyles. Having seen the work of Mary Ellen Mark and Diane Arbus, I knew that the camera could grant permission into the lives of complete strangers. In 2003, I moved to San Francisco, CA to study photography at The San Francisco Art Institute. After completing my BFA, I moved back to my home town San Diego, with my now husband Tahan, in tow. We currently reside in La Mesa, CA where I work full time as a photographer and am finishing my MFA through the Low Residency program at The San Francisco Art Institute. We are expecting our first child together this Christmas, 2015.

Liliana Hinojosa has always had a passion for photography and is always looking for ways to keep her work different and exciting. She attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas from fall of 2007 until spring of 2012 when she received her Bachelor's of Fine Arts in photography. She currently resides in the DFW area and works all over Texas, focusing mainly on the Rio Grande Valley.

As you view my images you’ll find out a lot about me. For instance, I see natural landscapes and the creatures that call them home as being at the same time grand works of art and also places for renewal, connection and education. It’s probably also apparent that I love to travel. The world is a big, beautiful and fascinating place, and my travel images aim to show it in all its glory. Photographing people and their cultures is one big reason I travel, and I hope my images tell you something about what makes all of us unique, along with all that we share. In short, despite all my photographs of nature and landscape, I am also a photographer of people, especially in those candid moments: with family or friends, with their pets, or simply alone. I’m very serious about photography as art, as a way to communicate what is more difficult (even impossible) to say with words. I don't tend to shoot popular subjects or incorporate trendy looks into my images. My influences from without are as numerous and varied as the whole world is. Influences from within include my past careers as an earth scientist and also a teacher. Both continue to inform my photography. For example my landscape images often highlight aspects of the region’s geologic history. My strong affinity for nature and animals of all kinds is a major influence as well. Global travel has given me a keen awareness of human impacts on the environment. We are forever connected after all - to the earth which gives us everything, and to each other. I am an avid blogger, and my newer images turn up there with interesting back-stories or in an educational context. Please click on the blog button to see what is current. Images that capture harrowing feats in world-class sailing competition are frozen in perpetuity through Priscilla Parker's view finder. Serving as an organizing official and/or race committee member for local, national and international sailing regattas, Parker has managed to grab photographic stills of competitors pursuing victory in perilously rough, fast waters --- from the deck of a rocking, some times wet boat. On any given weekend, Priscilla experiences the saltwater rush that coexists themes for a greater cause --- raising funds and supporting sailing events to support cancer research and patient care. After becoming the first person to use computer technology for onboard scoring of Charleston Race Week in 2005, Parker was toting a camera as part other racing official gear -- generally a scoring pad, whistle, flags, and an accurate clock. After 30 years of either competitor or race committee member in sailing events, Parker figured it time she started recording the experience for enjoyment later. The switch from 35mm to digital brought about a new and different world of photography. Her shots have captured soaked racing jocks standing parallel to the waves on the edge of a sailboat; the ominous view of the Spirit of South Carolina tall ship as it passes under the Cooper River span; and colorful clusters of competitors that have come to Charleston from lands afar to test the Charleston currents. Her work has been featured in national sailing and boating publications, as well as local news media. The New Bern, NC native has become an indelible member of the Lowcountry sailing community as a member of the Charleston Ocean Racing Association, South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association, Charleston Yacht Club and volunteer with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Leukemia Cup Regatta and past volunteer for the Maritime Heritage Foundation. Her work speaks of her love for the sport and passion to immortalize the moment.

I am a San Diego based photographer living in Oceanside California. I was first introduced to photography during my college years as an art history major. I was hooked after my first shutter click. Photography quickly turned into an expensive hobby and to fund that hobby I started shooting small weddings. ​ I’m happy to say that hobby has now turned into something I’m very passionate about. I don't see the wilderness of this planet as a place to be captured, as much as a place to be preserved. --- A lifelong outdoorsman and environmentalist, I began taking a camera on my adventures to try and preserve my experiences. I wanted to retain memories of the experience, but also the state of our environment at those times. A mountain summit will never be the same twice. Eternally changing conditions vary from minute to minute and season to season, as years fade into millennia. I've tried my best to preserve those moments, and I hope the pictures I've gathered convey the variety that surrounds us.

Bob Evans Bio Bob comes from a background of, perhaps one of the most creative professions, engineering. Some may think that this is not such an obvious background for an artist, however, all good engineers know that creating something from nothing gives you tremendous creative rush and oft times you find that the best engineers are frequently very accomplished musicians, artists and in my case, photographers.. Landscape Photography of Bob Evans A late comer to art photography Bob spent his early career working in engineering designing lifesciences equipment and then latterly moving into general management. During this time he and his family have lived in England, Florida, New York and latterly in Massachusetts. Bob travels frequently on business and always takes a camera with him as you never know what that perfect image will appear. During this time he had a very active interest in photography, probably coming from his father who is also an accomplished photographer. Over the years as he honed his expertise he found that what could best be loosely described as ‘landscape’ was his metier. Particularly in the abstraction from reality of key elements helped by almost exclusive use of black and white. Influences Early influences were Fay Godwin, a very accomplished english landscape photographer, sadly no longer with us. Her work evokes a deep empathy with the land and her keen eye and technical skill inspired him greatly. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fay_Godwin). Ansel Adams whose images of Yosemite and the American West together with the deep technical knowledge and skill in producing the finished print and treating the entire process as a pre-visualised expression was particularly welcome. Bill Brandt and Weegee, where the technical element was secondary to the image and the emotions evoked by them. Similarly with Cartier Bresson and his ‘decisive moment’, although Bob has never particularly focused on people photographs, on the occasions he has you can most defiantly see there influences, as shown in the 'people' gallery. Photo’s by Bob Evans Building on that creative engineering background Bob continued to hone his his technical skill and artistic eye. An early Nikon fan, Bob’s first ‘proper’ camera was an Nikon FM, an excellent manual workhorse that was used extensively. Over the years Bob has used many other cameras. For those ‘decisive moment’ shots he always carried a Minox 35GT, usually loaded with Ilford HP5. For his main camera he rapidly moved beyond 35mm and whilst he was using film his preferred outfit was a Bronica ETRS and then moved to a Mamiya RB67 and a home made 5x4. All of his darkroom work was done at home with a full setup for black and white and colour and many happy hours spent in the darkroom. Ilford was the brand of choice for monochrome work usually FP4 for larger formats and HP5 for 35mm both developed in ID11. This background in the craft of photography certainly helped in the transition to digital and he now spends more time in front of the computer then he ever did in the darkroom! he now uses Nikon systems exclusively, keeping an old D100 for Infra Red images, which have always been an interest to him. Perhaps this is driven by the abstraction from reality aspect of Bobs work which is so prevalent in his work. Having an eye for an image that would tell a story Bob has a key guideline that he rigorously applies, no manipulation of the subject is allowed. Bob strongly believes in taking the subject ‘as-is’ no posing of subjects, moving items etc. He greatly admires photographers who are expert in that technique, however, for himself it is capturing the essential essence of the subject matter that is vital to him. Bob has had his work published in the national press in England covering news events as well as having several shows in both the UK and in New York and has recently decided to move onto the web. He is a keen member of the Blackstone Valley Art Association and Arts Worcester and as well as photography he is also a keen sculptor and abstract painter as shown in the art gallery.
