Despite extensive budget cuts, Barnet's libraries have experienced a c. 20% increase in the borrowing of children's fiction, for example. Despite this, Barnet Council is idealogical opposed to public services and libraries and has proposed a plan to eliminate professional and accessible libraries that will only destroy the comprehensive and efficient service that was once provided. Save Barnet Libraries will not let this happen without a fight.
