I have been fascinated by unconventional people for as long as I can remember. I was raised in a middle class suburban neighborhood where my family stood out as eccentrics. We were the only secular family on the block, and my parents encouraged us to run wild, play hard, and reject authority. My father told captivating stories about his unusual upbringing, many of which revolved around his mother, a paranoid schizophrenic, and his father, a merchant marine with severe PTSD. As I got older, I became curious about other people that lived unorthodox lifestyles. Having seen the work of Mary Ellen Mark and Diane Arbus, I knew that the camera could grant permission into the lives of complete strangers. In 2003, I moved to San Francisco, CA to study photography at The San Francisco Art Institute. After completing my BFA, I moved back to my home town San Diego, with my now husband Tahan, in tow. We currently reside in La Mesa, CA where I work full time as a photographer and am finishing my MFA through the Low Residency program at The San Francisco Art Institute. We are expecting our first child together this Christmas, 2015.

Bob Evans Bio Bob comes from a background of, perhaps one of the most creative professions, engineering. Some may think that this is not such an obvious background for an artist, however, all good engineers know that creating something from nothing gives you tremendous creative rush and oft times you find that the best engineers are frequently very accomplished musicians, artists and in my case, photographers.. Landscape Photography of Bob Evans A late comer to art photography Bob spent his early career working in engineering designing lifesciences equipment and then latterly moving into general management. During this time he and his family have lived in England, Florida, New York and latterly in Massachusetts. Bob travels frequently on business and always takes a camera with him as you never know what that perfect image will appear. During this time he had a very active interest in photography, probably coming from his father who is also an accomplished photographer. Over the years as he honed his expertise he found that what could best be loosely described as ‘landscape’ was his metier. Particularly in the abstraction from reality of key elements helped by almost exclusive use of black and white. Influences Early influences were Fay Godwin, a very accomplished english landscape photographer, sadly no longer with us. Her work evokes a deep empathy with the land and her keen eye and technical skill inspired him greatly. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fay_Godwin). Ansel Adams whose images of Yosemite and the American West together with the deep technical knowledge and skill in producing the finished print and treating the entire process as a pre-visualised expression was particularly welcome. Bill Brandt and Weegee, where the technical element was secondary to the image and the emotions evoked by them. Similarly with Cartier Bresson and his ‘decisive moment’, although Bob has never particularly focused on people photographs, on the occasions he has you can most defiantly see there influences, as shown in the 'people' gallery. Photo’s by Bob Evans Building on that creative engineering background Bob continued to hone his his technical skill and artistic eye. An early Nikon fan, Bob’s first ‘proper’ camera was an Nikon FM, an excellent manual workhorse that was used extensively. Over the years Bob has used many other cameras. For those ‘decisive moment’ shots he always carried a Minox 35GT, usually loaded with Ilford HP5. For his main camera he rapidly moved beyond 35mm and whilst he was using film his preferred outfit was a Bronica ETRS and then moved to a Mamiya RB67 and a home made 5x4. All of his darkroom work was done at home with a full setup for black and white and colour and many happy hours spent in the darkroom. Ilford was the brand of choice for monochrome work usually FP4 for larger formats and HP5 for 35mm both developed in ID11. This background in the craft of photography certainly helped in the transition to digital and he now spends more time in front of the computer then he ever did in the darkroom! he now uses Nikon systems exclusively, keeping an old D100 for Infra Red images, which have always been an interest to him. Perhaps this is driven by the abstraction from reality aspect of Bobs work which is so prevalent in his work. Having an eye for an image that would tell a story Bob has a key guideline that he rigorously applies, no manipulation of the subject is allowed. Bob strongly believes in taking the subject ‘as-is’ no posing of subjects, moving items etc. He greatly admires photographers who are expert in that technique, however, for himself it is capturing the essential essence of the subject matter that is vital to him. Bob has had his work published in the national press in England covering news events as well as having several shows in both the UK and in New York and has recently decided to move onto the web. He is a keen member of the Blackstone Valley Art Association and Arts Worcester and as well as photography he is also a keen sculptor and abstract painter as shown in the art gallery.

I am originally from Pennsylvania, USA, but immigrated to Canada in 2006.  I lived in Ottawa, Ontario for six years.  I currently reside in Gwangju, South Korea, with my wife Melanie.  We are both middle school English teachers in South Korea. Thank you for visiting my website! My love for photography began as a child. I remember going to the National Museum of the Air Force when I was 9 or 10 years old. I spent every penny I had buying and shooting all the rolls of 110 film I could get my hands on. It took me weeks to save up enough to get them all developed (aahhh digital). I found the pictures again a few years ago. The pictures were nothing spectacular, but I'll never forget the rush I got taking them. Jump ahead to high school where I took my first photography class and learned about exposure, composure, and developing. After that I got away from serious photography until just a few years back. My father got a fancy new camera, a Nikon D90, and I had to have one too. I tried out a lot of lower grade equipment before learning the reasons why the pro grade stuff cost soooo much. There really is a huge difference in what you can do with it. But then I hit another wall. Even though my gear was good, I couldn't get all the shots I was trying for. My dad was having similar issues and we discovered a local photography school, Light Photographic Workshops. And the rest, as they say, is history. Not really, but I did learn how to fully use my camera and have continued to strive to be a better photographer ever since. I am fortunate to live in an area filled with great places to shoot, and to have friends and family that are so supportive of my work.

As much as we like to think we’re invincible, we’re not. But what if our bodies were to change to cope with the impact of a car accident?

Since May 2015 the Babel-University project website has been down. Since then I have received a lot of emails from project supporters , So I've set up this page to provide some answers. What happened? The short answer is that my savings account went dry and I couldn't afford to keep the server up and running. The longer answer starts in March of 2013, when my wife and I made the decision to move back to the United States. As many of you may know, My wife is a Japanese national and we have two sons. Since both our boys were born in Japan, we wanted to return to the United States for a few years so that they could experience western culture. So we started my wife's visa application and began saving for our trip back to the states. Since my position at the Board of Education was based on an annual contract and we intended to move back to the U.S. mid 2014, I had to resign from my position in March of that year. Unfortunately the visa application process took far longer and cost far more than we had anticipated (15 months and $6000 USD to be exact). Although in March of 2015, we'd made it to the last stage of the visa application process, we were informed that since my income for the last three years was location dependent, unless I could show that I had more than $75,000 USD in savings, they couldn't approve my wife's visa. Since we'd been living off of our savings since my resignation and $75,000 was more than three times my annual income as a teacher, we abandoned our plans and hunkered down here in Japan. I had hoped that the Babel-University project would be able to sustain enough sales to pay for the dedicated server on which it was running. Due to security issues related to shared hosting, one of the requirements to be included in the Joomla Extensions Directory (JED) is that you host your download site on a dedicated server. However in January when I announced the development of Babel-U-Exams 2.0, sales flat lined and in May, I had to cancel my server subscription. Is the project dead? Although the Babel-University site is offline and I can't offer download access to the extension at the moment, I would like to revive the project, but before I can do that, I need to get back on my feet and figure out how to make it sustainable. I'm using Babel-U-Extension, what should I do now? If you are currently running a live site using Babel-U-Extensions, then you have a few options. Option One: Migrate The first option is to migrate to an alternative solution. I know there are several other extensions that offer similar functionality, so finding an alternative shouldn't be difficult. However migrating the database to a different extension isn't going to be easy. You'll need to either have a very strong mastery of SQL or hire a database administrator to handle the migration process. Option Two: Start Over If you don't mind losing the exam data you have, then you can always start over with an alternative extension. This is the most cost effective option, but it does require that you manually import exams and questions into whatever extension you choose. Option Three: Maintain it in-house The third option is to maintain the system in-house. I've worked very hard to insure that the code in all Babel-U-Extensions is clean, stable and well documented. So any proficient PHP developer that has experience with the Joomla CMS should be able work with the code. Option Four: Hire me (Highly Recommended) Truthfully I'm between a rock and a hard spot at the moment. The Babel-University project was how I established my credibility as a web developer, so since the site went down, my freelance income is hit and miss. Although I've been looking for something here in Japan, living in the boondocks limits the opportunities I have. Jennifer Ashley Tepper is the Creative and Programming Director at Feinstein's/54 Below, and the author of The Untold Stories of Broadway  book series.  As the leader of 54 Below's creative programming team, Tepper is responsible for programming every show at the Broadway supper club and concert venue. She has curated and overseen the production of over 2500 shows, ranging from musicals in concert, to original solo acts, to theatrical reunions, to songwriter celebrations, and beyond. Feinstein's/54 Below has become notable for being the only venue of its kind: presenting over a dozen shows every week, specializing in Broadway acts, and welcoming both traditional cabaret and innovative new work. Tepper's leadership has been instrumental in making the locale "Broadway's Living Room", where on any given night one can find Broadway's biggest stars and emerging talents side by side, creating and sharing new work in an intimate theatrical environment.  Tepper's producing work on original ventures at the venue has gained praise from publications including The Huffington Post, The New York Times, Buzzfeed, Playbill, Newsday, the New York Post, and more. From Hit List  (the live concert version of the fictional musical from NBC's Smash) to Smile: A Broadway Reunion Concert to her collaborations with musical theatre writers both established and emerging, Tepper has, according to Theatermania, "brought her encyclopedic knowledge and typical gusto to the venue, knowing just what musical theatre enthusiasts are looking for."   On Broadway, Tepper has worked on shows in directing, producing, and marketing capacities, including [title of show], The Performers, the 2011 revival of Godspell, and the 2013 revival of Macbeth. She has also worked at off-Broadway and regional theaters, including Second Stage Theatre, Ars Nova, The York Theatre, Weston Playhouse, and Goodspeed. Other credits include projects, shows, and educational initiatives with The National Alliance for Musical Theatre, The Producing Office, PBS, The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, TEDx Broadway, The Dramatists Guild, Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, the New York Public Library, The Actors Fund, New York City Center, the Broadway Green Alliance, the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and New York University, where Tepper is a proud graduate. Tepper has worked as the Managing Editor of The Best Plays Theatre Yearbook, and is currently on the Artists Board for the Encores Off-Center series. She is a freelance contributor to Playbill, BroadwayWorld, Theatermania, and Backstage. As an educator, she has been involved with Florida Thespians, New York Thespians, Texas' Joci Awards, and the St. Louis Cabaret Convention, and given master classes at several universities and high schools. She is a consultant for BroadwayCon.   Tepper is the co-creator of the Bistro Award-winning concert series, If It Only Even Runs A Minute, now in its 7th year. ...Runs A Minute celebrates short-lived Broadway and off-Broadway musicals in concerts that feature photos and research as well as songs. Each concert also boasts original cast members and writers telling stories, as well as songs that have never been recorded. The series thus far has comprised over 200 performers and over 150 'under-appreciated' shows. AM New York has called the series: "Artistically compelling... displays the blood, guts, sweat and tears that go into making Broadway shows."   As a writer, Tepper has authored three volumes of The Untold Stories of Broadway series, published by Dress Circle. For these books, Tepper interviewed 250 theatre professionals about the Broadway theaters themselves and their stories of working in each house. The books cover over 70 years of our theatrical history, shared through first-hand interviews with Broadway professionals who were there. The Untold Stories of Broadway  books comprise stories with actors, producers, directors, writers, designers, stagehands, door men and women, musicians, house managers, press agents, ushers, and many more. Interspersed with interviewees' stories are Tepper's own tales and discoveries about each historic building. The Untold Stories of Broadway partners with a charitable organization that receives proceeds from each volume, and is currently partnered with Broadway Impact, the Theatre Development Fund, and the Broadway Green Alliance. Published in 2013, 2014 and 2016, each book has occupied the #1 spot on Amazon.com's Best Sellers List in Broadway & Musicals. NBC New York has called the books an 'inspiring Must-Read'.   Tepper was recently named one of the 10 professionals on Backstage Magazine 's "1st Annual Broadway Future Power List", alongside Alex Timbers and Leigh Silverman.
