The Metamodernist Manifesto, Luke Turner (2011) // We recognise oscillation to be the natural order of the world. Metamodernism shall be defined as the mercurial condition between and beyond irony and sincerity, naivety and knowingness, relativism and truth, optimism and doubt, in pursuit of a plurality of disparate and elusive horizons. We must go forth and oscillate!

Luke Turner (b.1982, Manchester, UK) is an artist based in London. His work investigates the operations and oscillations of art, exploring presence and affect across the physical and digital realms. He is one-third of artist trio LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner, alongside Shia LaBeouf and Nastja Säde Rönkkö. His practice evolved out of his work on the web in the late '90s, and he is co-editor of the aesthetics and culture website Notes on Metamodernism. In 2011 he published The Metamodernist Manifesto.

From 9am on January 20, 2017, the public is invited to deliver the words HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US into a camera mounted on a wall outside the Museum of the Moving Image, New York, repeating the phrase as many times, and for as long as they wish.
