The concept of Sivertson Gallery was set into motion in 1980 as the joint effort of its current owner, Jan Sivertson, and her father, artist and author Howard Sivertson. The first gallery site was a small retail space in the basement of Howard's home, where Howard and Jan divided their time between gallery duty and creating art. A few artist friends were invited to show their work as well, and Sivertson Gallery became a reality.

 “Still Real Life” – [with artists Alicia Mordenti and Kari Herer] shows what happens when two ceramic majors from the University of Idaho (BFA’s ’01) collaborate on a shared idea (a year-long dialogue evolving over many visits, e-mails, and phone calls) and end up in a gallery space six months later showing the hard-wrought results.  Their friendship over the many years since college has grown in strength as they both met with the real life challenges of marriage, children, and careers.   The work shows a parallel in direction, impulse, and intent.  Fascination with light works its way into all of the images.  Formal approach to the flat surface they have placed before them to work with, to master (unlike the 3-dimensional world of their youth) mirrors in effort and difficulty their own always-in-motion moving-forward lives.  Flowers and their kids end up as both artist's subject matter; the momentary beauty and celebrated joy offered by these ----each day, and without stop– their content.  Both artists are inspired by their home environments; capturing moments in chaotic fragments with the snapping of a camera’s shutting lens.  No matter the final art medium used, (Herer, using photography – both digital and medium format Polaroids (one-of-a-kinds) and Mordenti, painting from photographs in oil and acrylic on panels and canvas) their combined work stems from that impulsive snap of the fleeting:  the flower that loses its petals far too early; the child that grows up far too quickly.  Both artists realize that “the moment will always trump the thought-over”; the camera’s capturing of chaos in progress the most direct path to the real.  The art image we are left with may be still, but the reality it reflects, the life it tries to show in painted or photographed form – is anything but.

People always get a sense of beauty of time-space freezing from her works, and naturally hold their breath to figure out the details in it, then linger at one moment of the frame. 2012, started career as GRASS JELLY concept designer. She created many impressing works by using varied media and materials, including music videos of Mayday, Sodagreen, Jolin Tsai, Jay Chou, Show Luo, Elva Hsiao and etc; and many commercial videos for Google, FamilyMart, Sony, TVBS, and etc. The most discussed work during the period is the contest video for "2016 World Design Capital in Taipei." 2014, started working as designer in JL DESIGN. She uses animation techniques to influence whole video with her style and played the role as main visual designer in "The 26th Golden Melody Awards" project. In 2015, she made the start frame for indie film "The Tag-Alone" and for "Disney Celebrating 90 Years of Dreams." in 2016, she is the team leader for making start frame for "2016 World Design Capital in Taipei." The other works she participated including animations for "The 25th Golden Melody Awards," "2014 & 2015 Golden Pin Design Award," "Hualien Media," "Spring Thunder," and etc. She is still working for JL DESIGN now.

Gillespie died in 1993, and Cherry released his first recording as a leader, 'First Take' (Groovin' High). During that same period Ed worked with Hammond organist John Patton recording three critically acclaimed cds with Patton's quartet-'Blue Planet Man','Minor Swing' and 'This ones for Jah'(DIW). From 1997 to 1998, Cherry worked in Roy Hargrove's “Crisol” Latin jazz band, which performed in Havana, Cuba. During this same period, he also worked w/baritone saxophonist, Hamiett Bluiett, recording  'With Eyes Wide Open' on Justin-Time records. In 2001, Cherry toured Europe for the first time with his own group. He also released his latest CD, The Spirit Speaks on the Canadian Justin Time label, inspired by the great jazz organist Jimmy Smith with whom he had also recently worked.Ed was asked to perform at the 'Vodaphone Madarao Jazz festival' in 2002 in Madarao Japan with his quartet featuring trumpeter Jon Faddis. In 2003 Ed performed with his quartet at Detroit Jazz Festival.  Right now,Ed is a member of vocalist Paula West quartet as well as leading his own trio. In addition to his stellar work as a sideman and as a critically acclaimed leader, Ed Cherry also has impressive credentials as a music educator. He taught guitar at Essex Community College in Newark, NJ from 1995 to 1996, and at the Henry Street Settlement in New York City from 1996 to 1997. He was also a faculty member at Montclair State University, School of Fine and Performing Arts for J.O.Y. Port City Makerspace is a community tool shop that provides access to a variety of different equipment for a low monthly membership. We have a Wood Shop, Metal Shop, Machine Shop, Electronics Lab with 3D Printing capabilities, an Automotive Garage with an Auto Lift and a Bicycle Repair Workbench, and CNC Routers. We also have a lot of project space to enable members to work on large projects without having to worry about transporting things back and forth. Our goal is to help you make the things you want, be it a new invention, an interesting design, something you dreamed about, or something you saw and figured "I could make that!".
