I have been fascinated by unconventional people for as long as I can remember. I was raised in a middle class suburban neighborhood where my family stood out as eccentrics. We were the only secular family on the block, and my parents encouraged us to run wild, play hard, and reject authority. My father told captivating stories about his unusual upbringing, many of which revolved around his mother, a paranoid schizophrenic, and his father, a merchant marine with severe PTSD. As I got older, I became curious about other people that lived unorthodox lifestyles. Having seen the work of Mary Ellen Mark and Diane Arbus, I knew that the camera could grant permission into the lives of complete strangers. In 2003, I moved to San Francisco, CA to study photography at The San Francisco Art Institute. After completing my BFA, I moved back to my home town San Diego, with my now husband Tahan, in tow. We currently reside in La Mesa, CA where I work full time as a photographer and am finishing my MFA through the Low Residency program at The San Francisco Art Institute. We are expecting our first child together this Christmas, 2015.

On any given weekend, Priscilla experiences the saltwater rush that coexists themes for a greater cause --- raising funds and supporting sailing events to support cancer research and patient care. After becoming the first person to use computer technology for onboard scoring of Charleston Race Week in 2005, Parker was toting a camera as part other racing official gear -- generally a scoring pad, whistle, flags, and an accurate clock. After 30 years of either competitor or race committee member in sailing events, Parker figured it time she started recording the experience for enjoyment later. The switch from 35mm to digital brought about a new and different world of photography. Her shots have captured soaked racing jocks standing parallel to the waves on the edge of a sailboat; the ominous view of the Spirit of South Carolina tall ship as it passes under the Cooper River span; and colorful clusters of competitors that have come to Charleston from lands afar to test the Charleston currents. Her work has been featured in national sailing and boating publications, as well as local news media. The New Bern, NC native has become an indelible member of the Lowcountry sailing community as a member of the Charleston Ocean Racing Association, South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association, Charleston Yacht Club and volunteer with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Leukemia Cup Regatta and past volunteer for the Maritime Heritage Foundation. Thank you for visiting my website! My love for photography began as a child. I remember going to the National Museum of the Air Force when I was 9 or 10 years old. I spent every penny I had buying and shooting all the rolls of 110 film I could get my hands on. It took me weeks to save up enough to get them all developed (aahhh digital). I found the pictures again a few years ago. The pictures were nothing spectacular, but I'll never forget the rush I got taking them. Jump ahead to high school where I took my first photography class and learned about exposure, composure, and developing. After that I got away from serious photography until just a few years back. My father got a fancy new camera, a Nikon D90, and I had to have one too. I tried out a lot of lower grade equipment before learning the reasons why the pro grade stuff cost soooo much. There really is a huge difference in what you can do with it. But then I hit another wall. Even though my gear was good, I couldn't get all the shots I was trying for. My dad was having similar issues and we discovered a local photography school, Light Photographic Workshops. And the rest, as they say, is history. Not really, but I did learn how to fully use my camera and have continued to strive to be a better photographer ever since. I am fortunate to live in an area filled with great places to shoot, and to have friends and family that are so supportive of my work.
