Hi. Thanks for visiting my Web site. I became interested in Sports Photography while cheering for my daughter at her Volleyball games. As you may be able to see from my picture, I take cheering for my daughter very seriously. It was killing me to know that I was missing out on so many memories because no one was taking pictures. I had a good friend (who is an awesome photographer) who would come to a few games a year and shoot pictures for me. Once my daughter started playing in College I wanted to preserve every minute she spent on the court. I started taking pictures myself and sharing them with her teammates. I quickly realized how much I loved catching these once in a lifetime moments and sharing them. Now I take the photography as serious as the cheering! I regularly cover sports professionally for Newsday, The Suffolk Times, The Riverhead News Review and The Shelter Island Reporter. Its awesome to be able to share my work with a much larger audience. I am a lover of living intentionally, experiential learning, and global thinking. An academic interdisciplinarian, I have degrees in Human Biology, Social Work, Ethics, Spanish Language, and recently a Master Degree in Global Public Health. I earned my chops in photography as a photojournalist, and in post processing as a photo-editor, in 2011 when I worked for a local daily newspaper for 1 year. Since then I have continued local freelance work, but have primarily focused on my true passion – travel photography. I fell in love with photography at age 15 when I got my first SLR camera for Christmas back in 1983. I wanted to be a National Geographic photographer but photography school was too expensive so I never pursued it professionally. In my 20's, I didn't have time to do much photography due to... well, life. At around age 32 I decided I wanted to be happy, finally, and I wanted to take control of my life instead of being controlled by my job. So I started getting back into my photography and practicing and shooting and reading everything I could get my hands on and teaching myself how to be a better photographer. So at age 34 I started my photography business. This was in 2002 about 6 months after 9/11. Probably not the best time to start a business, but for me it was now or never. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life! I put everything I had into it with the attitude that "I will make this happen!" Failure was not an option. To my surprise... three years later, I was shooting 50 weddings a year. The best part... I am happy! I love what I do, I love my life... What could be better than that? About My Photography I don't like to label my style of photography. I just go with what I am feeling from the bride and groom and what I am feeling from the wedding location. The light, the colors, the textures all play a part in how I shoot. I bring a relaxed, fun and confident attitude to my shoots. I get told by my clients that I am a joy to work with and I make them feel very comfortable in front of the camera. I get people at my weddings telling me, "Dude, your an awesome photographer!" I'm like, "You haven't even seen the pictures yet." "Don't need to. I can just tell by watching you that you're an awesome photographer. You never miss anything. You're just right on it." SHORT BIO: When I was in second grade, my teacher told me I could draw as I tried to recreate the animals from the African continent from a Disney movie I had seen that weekend with pencil and color crayons. Until that time, we colored inside the lines. The creative gene sparked an interest in photography. I discovered that you could make memories permanent with film if only with a Brownie Starflash in black and white. A few classes in college and independent study have encouraged me to use the camera to "see" the world in my unique way. My Story and How I Started My name is Jason R. Samy. I’ve been taking pictures as long as I can remember, but I got my first experience with a 35mm SLR in my early adult life. Over time I converted to digital and I haven't ever looked back. My portfolio displays many styles of photography that I’ve learned over the years and I continue to expedient with different techniques. I started off shooting anything in front of me, but ask anyone who knows me; I’m rarely without my camera. Outside of taking pictures of my friends, family, and things around me, I started shooting different dance events and shows. That got me started on some portrait and portfolio work. And this eventually led to my first engagement and wedding shoots. I can say because of my experiences, that i am somewhat a “jack of all trades” kind of photographer. I am still striving to find my niche in photography and learn with every push of the trigger on my camera, but I love to photograph everything. A lot of events in life happen in the blink of an eye, and photos are once in a life time moments that I like to capture and share with everyone. Photography started as a hobby for me, and as lucky as it sounds to some, it is now a passion that I get paid to do. Booking, Contacting, and Information I have my own equipment; everything from cameras, flashes, and backdrops. I’m available for location shoots and have access to a studio if necessary. LA RAZIONALITA’ DELLA FEDE IN GESU’ CRISTO E I SUOI EFFETTI INNOVATIVI E MIGLIORATIVI PER LA NOSTRA ESISTENZA (di Romualdo Magno) Dopo aver letto quasi tutte le pregiatissime opere di Frate Alberto Maggi su Gesù e i Suoi insegnamenti e dopo aver espresso al medesimo la mia massima gratitudine per avermi attraverso le Sue opere illuminato, sento il bisogno di chiarire a tutte le mie Sorelle e a tutti i miei Fratelli in Gesù Cristo nonché Amiche e Amici, reali e/o virtuali, la razionalità e l’altissimo valore formativo della fede in Gesù Cristo. Questa fede non è né una fola, né un’utopia. Premesso che è scientificamente dimostrato che l’uomo, a differenza della bestia che agisce d’istinto, è un essere che usa anche la ragione e/o intelletto, attività che gli serve prima di tutto (accogliendo la tesi universalistica di Cartesio) per distinguere il bene dal male (intendo per bene tutto ciò che fa l’uomo felice e non arreca alcun danno a lui stesso e a nessun altro) e successivamente scegliere il primo o il secondo e conseguentemente improntare la propria vita relazionale di qualsiasi tipo secondo la prima o la seconda scelta: ecco in cosa consiste il libero arbitrio. Premesso, altresì, che la parola fede in latino fides significa fiducia, lealtà verso qualcuno o qualcosa. Da quanto già accennato, è ovvio che se abbiamo effettuato la scelta verso il bene riporremo la nostra fiducia o fede verso Gesù e i Suoi insegnamenti che mirano ed hanno per scopo la piena felicità dell’uomo e la realizzazione su questa terra del Suo Regno cioè quel Regno basato sul Suo amore che va a ogni individuo indipendentemente dal genere, dalla razza, dalla religione, dal censo e anche dalla sua condotta. In definitiva è la società perfetta che Gesù è venuto a proporre in alternativa a quella imperfetta che avvelena da tempi remotissimi la vita di noi uomini e nella quale imperano i tre verbi maledetti dell’avere, del salire e del comandare. Tali verbi suscitano negli uomini odio, rivalità , inimicizia e ingiustizia. Gesù propone a noi uomini il Regno di Dio, cioè una società in cui al posto dell’avere e dell’accumulare ci sia la gioia del condividere e del dare, anziché il salire ci sia scendere – cioè non considerare nessuno al di fuori del raggio d’azione del proprio amore – e dove soprattutto anziché comandare ci sia il rapporto d’incontro, di collaborazione, di reciproco amore e rispetto. La realizzazione di detta società perfetta sta completamente alla volontà degli uomini, che accogliendo Gesù e facendo propria la fede in Lui (nel senso specificato di avere riposto la propria fiducia in Lui e nei Suoi insegnamenti) ne hanno preso l’impegno. Ecco perchè io credo che la fede in Gesù Cristo sia una cosa razionale e i suoi effetti siano innovativi e migliorativi per la nostra esistenza, e quindi ogni uomo, sia esso cristiano, credente, agnostico o ateo, dovrebbe accettarla e farla sua.
