王任直，北京协和医院神经外科主任，主任医师、教授，博士研究生导师，中国垂体腺瘤协作组组长。 现任中华医学会会员，中华医学会神经外科学分会原常务委员兼秘书长，北京市医学会神经外科学分会副主任委员，中国神经外科学会青年委员，中国微循环学会理事，世界神经外科学会会员，日本神经外科学会荣誉会员，卫生部中央保健局专家，国家自然科学基金委员会评委。《中华医学杂志》特邀编委，《中华神经外科杂志》、《现代神经疾病》、《现代神经疾病》杂志编委，《国外医学脑血管病分册》编委。教育部出国留学人员科研基金评审委员，中国医学科学院伦理委员会委员。 专业特长：从事神经外科工作20余年，尤其擅长于垂体腺瘤、颅咽管瘤、颅底肿瘤、脑干肿瘤、脑血管病、脊髓髓内肿瘤等疾病的治疗。在垂体性疾病、颅咽管瘤及脑血管病等方面有独到之处，开展了内镜辅助扩大经蝶窦入路治疗垂体腺瘤及其他鞍区肿瘤切除术的解剖研究和临床应用。 基础研究方面，在神经干细胞移植及VEGF基因的临床前期研究方面达到国内领先水平，部分研究成果达到国际先进水平。在垂体腺瘤的基础研究方面也做了大量的工作。先后主持多项国家级课题，包括国家自然科学基金6项、国家“863”项目2项、科技部重大基础研究前期专项研究1项等，此外还承担卫生部、教育部以及北京市的多项科研课题。已经在《Clinical Hemorheological Microcirculation》、《brain research》、《Neurological Research》、《Journal Neurosurgery》、《Neurosurgery》、《中华医学杂志》等发表论著100余篇，主编及参与编写医学论著8部。 曾获国家科技进步一等奖，国家发明二等奖，中华医学科技进步一等奖等。
