ART RIGA 2018. FOREIGN GALLERIES FLOCK TO FOURTH EDITION OF ANNUAL CONTEMPORARY ART BALTIC FAIR- ART RIGA 2017 This year's ART RIGA, one of most important events in the Baltic art calendar, will take place on November 7- 12. Contemporary Art galleries from as far afield as Mexico and Indonesia are taking part – alongside galleries from Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Russia, Georgia, Estonia and host nation Latvia. ART RIGA 2018 will again be held in the historic Latvian Railway History Museum in the city-centre. ART RIGA was established in 2014 to mark Riga's status as European Capital of Culture, with transactions exceeding half a million euros. Conference cycle GENIUS LOCI Europe. ART RIGA 2018 will have an expanded programme of talks and events, playing host to international art professionals, institutions, galleries, publishers, media, collectors and art-lovers. David A. Oram is an artist living in Bradford, Ontario, a small town north of Toronto, with his wife and two children. Although he has had some formal training he is largely self taught, working mainly in acrylics and watercolors. David’s paintings and limited edition prints hang in many private and corporate collections across North America and Europe. In 2000 he was commissioned by Canadian Pacific Railway to paint an official portrait of their steam locomotive #2816 (titled #2816 on Little Pic River bridge), also know as “The Empress“. His artwork has appeared in numerous magazines, books and several board games. David and his artwork was also featured in an episode of the PBS television series Tracks Ahead. In 2008 the City of Toronto reproduced his painting “A John St. Morning” as a mural on an outside wall at the Toronto Heritage Railway Center. For over 20 years with his passion for placing technically accurate subjects in believable settings, with particular attention to lightning, shading and texture, he has been recreating history and bring the past to life with his artwork.
